Representatives from education and business discussed strengthening the workforce potential of the construction industry in the capital during the roundtable discussion “Prospects for Training Specialists in Underground Construction”, held on January 28, 2025, at the library of Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute. Today, students already have the opportunity to enhance their professional skills by undergoing internships at Egis Ertle Engineering. Some of them stay with the company, gaining invaluable experience in engineering design, including work within expert teams on international projects.

During the meeting, the educational institution was represented by specialists from the Department of Geoengineering at KPI: Natalia Zuevska, Head of the Department, Anatolii Han and Hennadii Haiko, Program Coordinators, Liubov Shaidetska, Viktoriia Vapnichna, and Olena Han, Faculty Members. Egis Ertle Engineering was represented by its Director, Vitalii Khomaiko. Also in attendance were Akim Khokhlov (Autostrada) and Vladyslav Basanskyi, representing the State Enterprise “V.S. Balytskyi Research Institute of Construction Production”.

The key topic of discussion was the improvement of educational programs in specialty G16 “Mining and Oil & Gas Technologies” to strengthen the workforce potential for the needs of Kyiv’s construction sector.

Such platforms for dialogue between educators and businesses are extremely important for improving the professional training of future specialists.They will have a positive impact on industry development and help ensure that real market demand is considered when training underground construction specialists.
