Bioenergy in Ukraine is a strategic direction for the development of the sector of renewable energy sources. According to the Main Directorate of the State Consumer Production Service, about 120 billion tons of dry organic matter, or biomass, is produced annually on planet Earth with the help of photosynthesis, which is equivalent in energy to more than 40 billion tons of oil. Biomass is used for the production of heat or electricity by obtaining biogas, as well as the production of ethyl alcohol (bioethanol), and motor fuels (biodiesel).

Egis Ertle Engineering together with the German company Krieg & Fischer Ingenieure GmbH developed technological solutions for a biogas plant with a capacity of 1.5 MW. It was designed for the agricultural sector in the Bila Tserkva district, Kyiv region. The company’s engineers developed design documentation for all stages, received a positive expert opinion, and supervised the progress of construction.

Biogas is clean and renewable energy that can replace natural gas for cooking, hot water, steam, or electricity. The availability of raw materials for biomass is wide, but within the scope of the project, the raw material is corn silage. The basis of the new complex is the ecological processing and utilization of organic waste, followed by the conversion of biogas into heat and electricity. Considering Ukraine’s high dependence on imported energy sources and the great potential of biomass available for energy production, such stations play an important role and develope the bioenergy industry.
